Kasi Law is adding an Associate Lawyer to our litigation team in the new year. We are looking for an experienced litigator who can take meaningful ownership of insurance defence files and become productive within a reasonable orientation period. This is not intended as a junior training role requiring extensive foundational supervision.
The Opportunity
The role will focus primarily on insurance defence litigation, with opportunities to become involved in plaintiff personal injury and related civil litigation based on interest, experience and Firm needs.

Kasi Law is a boutique litigation firm in London, Ontario, representing insurers, businesses and individuals in insurance defence, plaintiff personal injury, accident benefits and civil litigation. We are a small, collaborative team committed to strong advocacy, practical client service, professionalism and clear communication. Our lawyers work closely with an experienced team of Law Clerks and legal professionals who actively support file progression.
The successful candidate will work directly with Tino Kasi, the Firm’s Founder and Principal Lawyer, an experienced insurance defence and trial lawyer with substantial jury and judge-alone trial experience across a broad range of first- and third-party insurance matters. For the right lawyer, this means meaningful autonomy without isolation – the opportunity to manage and develop your own files while having experienced litigation support and senior counsel available for strategy, complex issues and trial preparation.
The Role
The successful candidate will assume carriage of appropriate insurance defence matters and progress files from assignment through resolution.
Responsibilities will include:
- Independently managing an assigned portfolio of insurance defence and civil litigation matters
- Assessing liability, damages, evidentiary and procedural issues and developing file strategy
- Preparing insurer reports, legal opinions, pleadings, correspondence, motion and mediation materials
- Conducting legal research and providing practical legal analysis
- Attending discoveries, mediations, motions, pre-trials, hearings and other proceedings
- Participating in settlement negotiations within appropriate authority
- Communicating with insurers, clients, experts, opposing counsel and other litigation participants
- Retaining and instructing experts where appropriate
- Preparing files for trial and participating in trial preparation and proceedings
- Working collaboratively with Law Clerks and Legal Assistants to progress files efficiently
- Maintaining appropriate file-management, deadline and docketing standards
Who We Are Looking For
We are ideally seeking a lawyer with approximately 5–8 years of post-call litigation experience, although candidates outside this range who can demonstrate the required level of insurance defence experience and independent file-management ability are encouraged to apply.
What You Will Bring
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Meaningful insurance defence and civil litigation experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation files with limited supervision
- Strong knowledge of Ontario civil litigation procedure and the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience with discoveries, mediations, motions and litigation strategy
- Meaningful exposure to trial preparation and/or second-chair trial work
- Strong legal research, drafting, analytical and advocacy skills
- Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when consultation or escalation is appropriate
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A proactive, organized and self-directed approach
Independent trial experience is welcomed but not required. Experience in plaintiff personal injury or Accident Benefits is an asset but not required. Business development and practice-building are encouraged.
How We Work
This is primarily an in-office position in London, Ontario. Our typical office hours generally fall between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Lawyers have reasonable professional flexibility in structuring their working day, provided client service, deadlines, court obligations and team needs are met.
Following successful completion of probation, some hybrid work may be approved based on operational needs, file responsibilities, independence, productivity and reliability.
